So I have a buddy who is also in the glorious field of architecture and design. Recently he has been modeling up tons of furniture in 3D. He came across one chair called the Baker chair. He shared a link with me so I could view this particular chair. He commented on how this chair was going to take some time and possibly be a little difficult to model using his current software. He may or may not have said 'this chair is going to be impossible' but that's what I heard and I took it as a personal challenge. For all those of you that are familiar with 'How I Met Your Mother' and Barney Stinson...
"CHALLENGE...wait for it...ACCEPTED!"
Just like Ted and Marshall (Barney's friends), my buddy is probably rolling his eyes, telling himself that he never challenged me, and that this is ridiculous. So here is a video of me modeling up the Baker chair in 3D set to the music of my buddy's band (he plays the drums). I sped up the video 5 times the original speed so that it fits within the length of one of his songs. I rather enjoyed making this little video so this might become a more common element to my blog. So until the next 'Challenge Accepted', enjoy!
Figured its about time i post something on my blog, its only be a few months :) I have been busy with a variety of projects from work, ranging from concept designs to construction administration.
This is a concept design for a five-story office building that I finished a few months ago. It's going to be located right at the 1600 North Orem exit. If you are familiar with that area the site is just west of the new Security Metrics building (which we also designed).
Here is a second image I created. You may notice the Security Metrics building in the background. Also you may notice the name of the building. Unfortunately, since the time I finished this image that particular tenant decided to move to another building in Thanksgiving Point which will work better for immediate needs.
If you ever drive by this site you will see our company sign and a project sign that is a little out-dated. Hopefully construction begins on this site in the near future.
Obviously it has been a while since I last posted. I would love to start posting again, hence the post title. I assume an update is in order. I am still working at Curtis Miner Architecture in Pleasant Grove. I think I have the best job ever. I love what I do and enjoy the challenges that the field of architecture offers. Recently I have been working several projects at work. One that is under constructions right now is "Clear Horizons Academy", which a private school for children with Autism. I can't explain how great it feels to be working on a project that I know is an actual benefit to the families in my community.
Aside from Clear Horizons Academy, I have been working on conceptual work for a few other projects; a four-story office building, a nine-story mixed-use midrise, a charter school in southern Utah valley, a 69,000 S.F warehouse building in PG, a state-of-the-art warehouse in Daybreak, some concept work for the LDS Church, and Cinnabon/Cold Stone concept store. The previous list is a summary of projects that I am working of right now at work.
I can't reveal all the details for all the projects that I am working on, but I would like to share some of the images and content I have been working on.
And this last one is a rendering for one of my buddies that is doing a renovation on his new home in SLC. I have been able to help him a couple of times with his demolition, it's been fun.
